Amazon Prime Air: Drone Delivery Plan Revealed On ’60 Minutes’

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos revealed to “60 Minutes” on Sunday that his company’s R&D department is working on a new 30-minutes-or less delivery service that would employ the use of automated flying drones to deliver packages weighing up to 5 pounds, which Bezos said accounts for 86% of all purchases made on the site, according to The Huffington Post.

Bezos told Charlie Rose that his more “optimistic” estimate was that “Prime Air,” as the new service will be known, could be available to customers in the next 4 to 5 years. Unfortunately, that’s not soon enough to use in conjunction with the current American Express $25 statement credit offer, but we’re confident they’ll have something new lined up by then.
