Transfer Hotel Points To American Airlines Miles And Get A 25% Bonus

The AAdvantage program is running a promotion now through March 31, 2014 in which anyone who wishes to transfer hotel points to American Airlines miles will receive a 25 percent bonus on those miles. So if you’ve got enough Marriott or Hilton points to get 20,000 AAdvantage miles, you’ll end up getting 25,000 miles, which is enough for a round trip domestic flight.

This can be a great deal if you have some hotel points lying around that don’t add up to enough for a hotel stay and you’re also working on building your airline miles collection.

Maria has some 20,000 Marriott point left over from when she got the Marriott Rewards Visa Signature credit card. We used the first 30,000 for a stay at the Adagio hotel in San Francisco — a boutique hotel we can’t recommend highly enough — and I’m working on getting together enough American miles to get us to Europe and back in business class. So we’re planning to take advantage of this and transfer her points over to American and get 5,000 AAdvantage miles. That might not seem like a lot, but often the points that put you over the top toward something like an intercontinental business class ticket can be the most valuable miles you’ll ever earn!
